NEWBO Facts NEWBO, founded in 1978, is the oldest organization in New England for women business owners and (to our knowledge) the second oldest in the nation. NEWBO currently serves just under 200 women-owned businesses, predominantly in Massachusetts.  Geographically diverse, we have members as far north as Portland, Maine, as far south at Plymouth, MA, and as far west as Worcester, MA. Members cover a range of industries including (but not limited to): Professional Services Manufacturing Product Design and Development Personal Services Financial Health Care Telecommunications Construction Businesses range from start-up to greater than $3M in revenue, from one month old to 81 years old.  Several members are now running their second business and a few are on their third or fourth. Leadership is provided by a completely volunteer Board of Directors.  We have one paid, part time adminstrative staff providing adminstrative services.  NEWBO's administrator, Compuword, has held the position for 14 years and has been a NEWBO member since 1986. Though growing and constantly changing, NEWBO continues to retain long-time members.  Some of our members who continue to be active have been with the organization for 17 years.
